FILM REVIEW | Spider-Man: No Way Home

It's not every day that your cinema erupts into applause in a movie.

It's even less frequent when it happens more than once in said movie.

But that's exactly what fans can expect from the truly exceptional Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Anyone who has dedicatedly followed the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the last decade will no doubt count Tom Holland's Spidey as one of their favourite characters in franchise, and his latest outing does not disappoint.

The film picks up immediately after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, where Jake Gyllenhaal's villain Mysterio doctored some footage to make the world believe our friendly neighbourhood hero actually murdered him, and then revealed Spidey's true identity as Queens native Peter Parker.

The teen's life is immediately thrown into turmoil, with the public divided on whether he's a hero or a criminal.

Best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon), girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) also find their lives interrupted, something that Peter can't stand.

So he tracks down fellow Avenger Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and asks for a spell to make everyone forget that he's Spider-Man.

As one would expect from the trailer, things don't go exactly to plan and next thing you know, some very familiar villains are wreaking havoc in New York.

As the trailer showed, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Alfred Molina's Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx's Electro can all be found in this film - even though they faced off against previous iterations of Spider-Man.

There's no words to describe just how satisfying watching this film is as an MCU die-hard.

It's everything fans could have wanted, and more.

There are so many amazing sequences and reveals that it would be a grave injustice to reveal any before everyone has had a chance to see it.

No Way Home has action, laughs and a heavy dose of emotional resonance.

It's easily one of the very best films in the MCU.

Be sure to watch it on the big screen as soon as you get the chance.
