Having a chat over a cuppa is always a good call, as the ladies of the Afghan Women on the Move community group learned this month.

The group hosted a Tea and Talk event in Campbelltown and heard from South Western Sydney Local Health District speaker Fouzia Hamdard on the importance of staying COVID-safe, especially in the south-west.

"There have been higher rates of COVID in south-west Sydney and we are doing everything we can to keep our community safe," Afghan Women on the Move chief executive Maryam Zahid said.

"The Tea and Talk events are an opportunity for fully vaccinated locals to hear from experts and ask any questions.

"We hope the campaign encourages more people to get fully vaccinated."

The group also created short videos with COVID advice in both English and Dari.

Further events will be held in January.
