Hear ye, hear ye - there's a new town crier about.

C91.3's Ally Redondo has officially been named Campbelltown's town crier.

Mayor George Brticevic joined the breakfast radio host in the studio this week to officially bestow the honour upon Ms Redondo, who has been campaigning for the gig for three years.

The host has lived in Campbelltown for most of her life and prides herself on being 'the voice of the people' across the Macarthur region, hosting the Macarthur Breakfast show.

"Let the ring of the Town Crier Bell be heard from Simmos [Beach] through to Appin as it rings as loud and proud as the ringing of the ears usually sustained from listening to my radio show," Ms Redondo said on the air.

"I promise not to overuse the bell just for general amusement, but to reserve it for official Town Crier responsibilities... actually, I definitely do not guarantee that!"

A town crier is someone whose job it is to make important announcements for a region in the streets, so residents can hear.

They're traditionally dressed in ostentatious garb to make the largest impression - so Ms Redondo donned a crown and 'cloak' for her induction to the role.
