Get ready to soak in some sun, surf and sand with the return of the popular Wollondilly Summer Beach Bus.
The free hop-on, hop-off service running from the shire to the beach will begin again in January for its ninth year of operation, as part of a partnership between Wollondilly Council, Picton Buslines and SIMEC Mining.
The bus offers Wollondilly residents the chance to travel to North Wollongong Beach for free from various stops across the shire.
Two buses will travel on two separate routes to enable the greatest number of residents to join the bus while keeping travel times minimal. One route leaves from Bargo, and the other from Warragamba.
The Beach Bus will be running throughout January, 2022 each Thursday: January 6, January 23, January 20 and January 27.
The Beach Bus is for residents of all ages and will stop at 12 locations across the shire.
Appin residents might not have a stop, but they don't miss out - they can access free preloaded Opal cards from the Appin Pharmacy to catch the regular bus to Wollongong.
Upon arrival at the coast, Wollongong City Council Lifeguards will jump on board the buses to update beachgoers on current surf conditions and beach safety.
The Summer Beach Bus is an unsupervised bus service and there will be no adult supervision on the bus or at the beach.
No responsibility will be taken for people who miss their scheduled departure time.
