Skipper Jordan Silk has guided Tasmania to a Sheffield Shield victory over Western Australia in the shadows of stumps on the final day in Hobart.
Silk was unbeaten on 83 as the Tigers reached their target of 315 with four wickets to spare on Wednesday after WA held the upper hand for the majority of the game.
The 29-year-old, who also scored a crucial 73 in Tasmania's first innings batting with the tail, hit consecutive boundaries to secure his side's second win of the season.
WA captain Sam Whiteman declared at 7-226 halfway through the morning session to set up the match.
"I've got to pay full credit to Sammy Whiteman for setting up a game when they've won two games and they may not have needed to set one up," Silk told reporters.
"(They) were able to set something up that wasn't outrageous. It was a tick under four an over. We knew the wicket was still pretty good."
Caleb Jewell (60) and leading Shield run-scorer Tim Ward (42) got Tasmania off to a swift start with a century opening stand but the chase hit a hurdle when in-form Ashes hopeful Jhye Richardson (3-56) struck two blows.
Richardson, who took 4-53 in the first innings to further push his Test aspirations, removed Charlie Wakim (37) and Jake Doran (one) in quick succession.
He now has 23 scalps from four Shield games this season at an average of 13.43.
He was again thrown the ball at crucial junctures, with WA a bowler down after quick Lance Morris suffered a side strain on day two.
"I'm sure he will play Test cricket at some point this summer. He's clearly ready," Whiteman said.
"The thing that impressed me is how many overs he's bowled and how he can keep backing it up. Being able to steam in on the last day, we've asked a lot of him and he's done a great job."
WA dropped several catches throughout the match, including when wicketkeeper Josh Philippe grassed Ward off Test allrounder Cameron Green before lunch.
Silk, who channelled his short-form expertise and was lightning between the wickets, combined with No.8 Lawrence Neil-Smith (25 not out) to get the Tigers home.
Resuming the day at 4-170, WA went after quick runs with Green (54) adding just two to his overnight score before being bowled by second-gamer Brad Hope.
Green (1-28) got nine overs under his belt and trapped Hope LBW, as he eyes the first Ashes Test against England on December 8.
WA remain atop the Shield ladder with two wins from five matches, while Tasmania jumped to second.
