Christmas in Narellan might not be going ahead this year, but that doesn't mean organisers haven't got something special planned for the event's 10th anniversary.

The Greater Narellan Business Chamber has to make the 'regretful' decision to cancel face-to-face celebrations at Narellan Town Centre due to government recommendations surrounding the pandemic.

This is the second year the event has had to be cancelled due to COVID-19.

The Chamber has promised locals will still be able to ring in Christmas in style with four Christmas initiatives for people to enjoy online.

Pania Gregson, Christmas in Narellan chair, said the group still wanted to "bring joy and the spirit of Christmas to the community".

"We are so grateful to local businesses and residents for their continued support of Christmas in Narellan over the years," she said.

"We couldn't let this 10-year milestone pass without celebrating it in a special way with our community."

Online initiatives launched from this week include a colouring-in competition, two open age social media photo sharing competitions (called 'Show us your Griswalds' and 'Santa Paws') and a special event called Wish Upon a Star (running from November 13 to December 12).

Christmas in Narellan marketing manager Kristi Reynolds said 2021 had been difficult for so many locals and Wish Upon a Star would allow the community "to celebrate people they know who could do with some extra Christmas cheer".

"It is all about showing those who have perhaps been working on the frontline, or volunteer their time or even a parent or guardian that they are truly valued," she said.

"We want to make their Christmas merry and bright!"

To participate in the Christmas initiatives, the community is encouraged to visit christmasinnarellan.com.au or follow Christmas in Narellan on Facebook and Instagram.
