Update
The Australian Red Cross has today launched an appeal for funds to assist people affected by the NSW floods.
Red Cross volunteers and staff have been providing psychological first-aid and support to thousands of people since the start of the disaster.
They are currently working in 13 evacuation centres in flood-affected areas in NSW.
Support could include disaster relief (including practical and financial assistance) and supporting people and communities to recover and build resilience to disasters.
"We're committed to helping those affected by this disaster, whether that be through recovery programs, psychological first-aid or by reuniting them with loved ones," said Red Cross NSW director Poppy Brown.
"These floods have already affected thousands of people - it's likely that will increase in the coming days.
"We don't yet know the full extent of the impact of this disaster, but we do know that people's needs are great.
"We've seen how much the generosity of Australians can help those affected by bushfires in their recovery.
"We're now asking for people to help us support those affected by this extraordinary disaster."
Ms Brown encouraged anyone affected by the floods to take advantage of the support available, including at evacuation centres, recovery hubs and during outreach activities over coming weeks.
She said Red Cross volunteers would remain in evacuation centres across the state as long as needed.

St Vincent de Paul Society NSW has today launched a flood appeal to help those affected by the heavy rains and flooding across NSW.
St Vincent de Paul Society NSW chief executive Jack de Groot asked for people to donate to the Vinnies NSW Flood Appeal.
"People have already lost their homes and further evacuations are expected before this weather event passes," he said.
"Vinnies has been helping Australians in crisis for nearly 140 years, and to supply evacuees with food, clothing, household goods and longer-term recovery, we need your help.
"All donations will go towards assisting people and communities directly impacted by the floods."
The Mid-North Coast has been among the hardest hit regions so far, with many people and businesses significantly impacted. Large number of evacuations are occurring and many have lost property and stock.
"Vinnies has a network of members living in these communities across the state who are ready to provide people with practical assistance and emotional support," said regional president of the Manning, Deacon Vince Ryan.
"Vinnies needs your help to provide everyday necessities to people who've been displaced by the floods."
Donations can be made by calling 13 18 12, in person at any Vinnies Shop or on the website by clicking here.
