Let the borders be open!
From midnight Wednesday Tasmania will throw its gates open to all Australian states, announcing today South Australians were being reclassified as low-risk, and able to enter the Apple Isle.
It's the first time in nine months Tassie borders have been open for all states and territories, as well as New Zealanders.
Heading west and in keeping in the spirit of pre-Christmas announcements, WA Premier Mark McGowan said from December 8 Western Australia's borders will reopen to NSW and Victoria.
South Australians still don't have a date for when they can enter the state.
In the north of the country there were tears of joy as thousands of travellers arrived in Queensland from NSW and Victoria, following the lifting of the COVID-19 virus hotspot declarations and travel restrictions for Victoria and greater Sydney.
But it hasn't all been good news today. On the international front, relations with China continued to sink to new lows.
Chinese senior official Zhao Lijian has pinned his offensive and dishonest tweet to the top of his profile page.
While Prime Minister Scott Morrison has warned coalition colleagues against further amplifying China's incendiary social media attack on Australia.
Bob Katter meanwhile slammed the government for failing to market Australian products to other countries, as China slapped a 200 per cent duty on wine.
