Wollondilly Matters with Robert Khan: Honoured to serve the shire

I was very honoured to be elected as mayor by my fellow councillors at the last council meeting. It is a great privilege to represent the wonderful community of Wollondilly.

I have called Wollondilly home and run my own business here for over 35 years. I have raised my four children in Wollondilly, where they all attended local schools.

I enjoy motor racing, cricket and barracking for the Sharks in the rugby league!

I am originally from the country town of Coonamble. I moved to Wollondilly because I enjoy the rural surroundings. My vision for the area is to preserve this rural feel and keep the unique qualities that our towns and villages have to offer, and make sure that any new development is in line with Council's vision for the future.

These are exciting times, with the planning of a brand new town in Wilton. I want to continue to work with the state government to help create a vibrant, healthy and sustainable new town in Wilton. We need to make sure we have the infrastructure in place that our community deserves. Wilton gives Wollondilly a chance to gain some great new facilities and services and local job opportunities, but we need to make sure that we retain the natural beauty that attracts people to the area.

Feel free to stop and say hello if you see me around. I would love to hear your thoughts on the future of Wollondilly.
