Does your child have a passion for musical theatre?
The Camden Musical Society is inviting youngsters to sing, dance and act their way through a two-day school holiday workshop.
Society vice president Melissa Musgrave said the workshops would be an opportunity for people aged 10 to 18 years to explore their love of theatre.
"There will be kids there who have some experience but any child who might be interested in musical theatre can come along," she said.
"The instructors are all people who are experienced performers and who want to share their skills."
The workshop will run from 9am to 3pm during the October school holidays at Mawarra Public School's hall.
Ms Musgrave said the program would cover singing, dancing and acting.
"Musical theatre is great for kids who just love to perform," she said.
"It's a great way to spend a couple of days of the holidays and meet new friends.
"The instructors are going to help kids to learn lots of new skills."
The society was only established a year ago and Ms Musgrave said they were hoping the funds raised from the workshops will help them to put a production together.
"About 12 months ago we noticed a gap in the area," she said.
"There are lots of people who travel to go to other musical societies all across Sydney and we wanted to offer them something closer to home.
"There are also a lot of people moving to the area so we wanted to give them this option in Camden.
"We really want to get something on stage so this is one of fundraising events and it will be our first go at school holiday workshops."
Camden Musical Society will also host an event called, A Night on Broadway featuring songs from famous musicals performed by locals.
The performance night will be held on Saturday, October 10 at Mawarra Public School's hall.
The society is also looking to hold auditions for it's first full-length musical, Seussical, in late October.
