In 2018 the popular Picton Show came back with "a vengeance" after a three year hiatus but this year the show cannot go on.
Thousands of people of all ages attended the towns agricultural show in 2019 however the Covid-19 pandemic put this year's event in doubt.
Last night the Picton AH&I Society president Mick Seccull took to Facebook to announce this year's event would indeed not be going ahead.
"It is with great sadness that we advise, the Picton District A H & I Society Inc committee has resolved to cancel this year's annual show scheduled for October 24 and 25, 2020 due to the coronavirus (Covid -19 ) pandemic," he said.
"The current restrictions in place for public gatherings, along with the uncertainty of any timeline around the lifting of restrictions for large gatherings, makes it unworkable to hold a large event such as the 2020 Show.
"The Society did not reach the decision easily, however the health and safety of our community, exhibitors and volunteers must be of the upmost importance and we are confident that we made the correct decision given the circumstances.
"We will now turn our attention to next year's show and bring you a fantastic show next year.
"We look forward to your support in the future."
