Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves announced that Camden has a new location for local residents to Return and Earn with the opening of a reverse vending machine (RVM) at the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living at Mount Annan.
The Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living is a not-for-profit, charity organisation focused on supporting our community via sustainable education.
The Centre promotes and assists the community with sustainable practices for schools, homes, urban precincts, and businesses. The Centre displays and demonstrates alternative energy production, waste-water recycling, water and energy efficiency, sustainable food production, recycling, and waste avoidance, whilst providing a beautiful green space environment.
"Return and Earn is the largest litter reduction initiative to be introduced in NSW. This is the seventh reverse vending machine installed in the Camden electorate and it's a real win for the local community," Mr Sidgreaves said.
Consumers receive a 10 cent refund for each eligible bottle, can or carton they return or can choose to donate their refund to one of the onscreen charity partners available on the machine.
Return and Earn has also introduced 'touch-free recycling' at all RVMs, enabling users to return their cans, bottles and containers easily without needing to touch anything other than your own containers.
