Man charged with high-range drink driving in Thirlmere

A man has been charged with high-range drink driving after a crash in Thirlmere overnight.

A Toyota Landcruiser was travelling north on Westbourne Avenue just before 9pm last night (March 22) when it allegedly collided with five parked cars and a tree before stopping on North Street.

Camden Police Area Command officers attended the scene and found the driver asleep in the vehicle.

The 24-year-old man was subjected to a roadside breath test which proved positive.

He was arrested and taken to Picton Police Station where he allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.273.

The man was then charged with high-range PCA (drink driving) and is due to appear at Picton Local Court on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

His licence has also been suspended.

The passenger, a 46-year-old woman, was also arrested for allegedly breaching a current enforceable AVO.

She was charged with breaching a restriction of an AVO and granted conditional bail to appear at Picton Local Court on Wednesday, March 25.
