YTBarber in Mount Annan will offer free haircuts and take donations for the Rural Fire Service and Kids of Macarthur at their official opening on Saturday, January 18 from 8am-4.30pm.

The event will include live music, a sausage sizzle, coffee and raffle prizes including membership for the Revolutions Gym at Smeaton Grange.

Director Melody Moeono said the business opened its doors in early December.

"We had a great opportunity to secure a location which we feel has the room for the barber shop culture we want to create," Ms Moeono said.

They offer a full range of services including haircuts for men and boys, fades and beard work.

"What makes our barbershop special is the open, relaxing and comfortable environment we have created," Ms Moeono said.

"We have no doubt new customers will be happy, not only with their haircut, but with the modern industrial decor and the customer service provided from the minute they walk through the door. Our barbers are professional and experienced and we pride ourselves on having a space where everyone in the family will feel comfortable.

"We have a dedicated area for mums and dads to be close to their kids and a car barber chair to assist our youngest clients to enjoy their haircut."

The barber shop has full wheelchair access and a disabled toilet on the premises.

There's also a "quiet room" which has sound proofing on the internal wall and is available for those with a sensory sensitivity.

"Having a young child who hated haircuts was hard enough, but thinking about having a child that could get upset over different sounds, touch and crowded spaces really motivated us to want to help those with sensory processing issues.

"We have been in contact with the Macarthur Autism Spectrum Family Support Group to seek their advice on how we can best cater for these customers.

"This room will also include the option for quiet clippers and sensory toys."

Ms Moeono said support from the local community had been very encouraging.

"This is our first business in the area and we have been so overwhelmed by the support and positive feedback we have received," she said.
