Man critical following multi-car accident at Varroville

A man is in critical condition following a multi-vehicle accident at Varroville last night.

Emergency services were called to the Hume Highway near the St Andrews Road overpass, Varroville about 11.30pm following reports of a three-vehicle crash.

Police were told a Holden Commodore and Toyota Corolla were stationary in one lane when a third car, a Nissan X-Trail, hit the two cars from behind.

The driver of the Commodore, a 30-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

The Corolla driver, a 28-year-old woman, and the X-Trail driver, a 72-year-old man, were also treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transferred to Liverpool Hospital in stable conditions.

Campbelltown police established a crime scene which was examined by specialist police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Investigators are calling on anyone with dashcam footage or information regarding the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
