A Chinese producer has denied raping a woman in a luxury Sydney hotel, instead claiming they hugged and kissed after she'd "voluntarily" performed a sex act on a Chinese film star in the same room.
The alleged victim has accused producer Jing Wang and actor Yunxiang Gao of taking turns to rape her after a wrap party for a show starring Gao.
But when giving evidence at Downing Centre District Court on Tuesday, Wang said the woman had been "proactive" and willing in her sexual behaviour towards Gao.
The jury was shown footage of the woman - who can't be identified for legal reasons - standing with Wang outside the Shangri-La Hotel shortly after 2am on March 27 in 2018.
Wang is seen carrying her bag and at one point he moves it away from her as she goes to take it back.
"I feel this is an action in a joking manner," Wang told the court through an interpreter.
As the pair walk into the hotel together Wang is seen holding her arm - something he said he often did with both men and women.
"Grabbing someone's wrist is only a habit of mine," he told the jury.
It was put to Wang by crown prosecutor Sean Hughes that the woman had not expressed sexual interest towards him.
"What kind of woman would express freely in the hotel lobby that she wants to have a sexual relationship with a man?" Wang told the court.
Shortly after they went to the hotel room, Gao arrived, and the three of them talked and joked about the woman's accent, the trial heard.
Wang said he saw the woman straddling Gao in the room while both were still clothed and then hugging and kissing in the bathroom.
With Wang sitting on the toilet smoking a cigarette, the woman allegedly performed a sex act on Gao, the court heard.
Wang said he was shocked or surprised "why (she) suddenly became so proactive".
Mr Hughes put it to Wang that the woman had not acted voluntarily and that both men had sex with her.
Wang rejected this.
"After Gao left the room (the woman) and myself continued to hug and kiss," he told the court.
He rejected a suggestion he'd forcefully held her legs while they had sex.
"This didn't happen," he told the court.
Gao and Wang, both 37, have pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of rape and indecent assault.
Wang has also pleaded not guilty to additional counts of rape and attempted rape. The men's barristers say all acts in Wang's hotel room were consensual.
