It might not have ended with a bang this year, but the 2019 Christmas in Narellan was just as joyous as ever.
The annual event signals the start of the festive season in Macarthur and was once again held at Narellan Town Centre on Saturday evening.
One big difference, however, was the Greater Narellan Business Chamber's decision not to hold the annual fireworks display (organised by Foti International), and instead donate the funds which would have been spent on the attraction to the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Chamber president Shaun Pereira said he was proud of the decision.
"I'm glad we made the call not to go ahead with the fireworks this year, I think the decision was really well-received by the community," he said.
"We had a representative of the Foti family there to show his support as well."
Mr Pereira said Christmas in Narellan was a "really good event" this year with a "strong turn-out".
"I don't have any official numbers, but I think there were definitely more people than last year," he said.
"Santa's arrival is always something to look forward to and the sensory Santa was another great addition to Christmas in Narellan.
"Christian and Bella were brilliant as MCs as they always are."
