Heroes of all shapes and sizes were out in full force in Campbelltown at the weekend.
The annual Festival of Fisher's Ghost street parade swooped into the CBD on Saturday afternoon, bringing with it a horde of creative, colourful costumes.
The parade's theme this year was 'heroes' and locals went all out to dress accordingly, some donning Marvel and DC superhero costumes while others honoured medical professionals and emergency service personnel.
Campbelltown mayor George Brticevic thought this year's parade was a super success.
"It was really fantastic this year, I think it could have been best ever," he said.
"It was really great to see the diversity of floats and costumes this year.
"Even the Campbelltown and Camden District Band added a something extra to their usual uniforms.
"It was fantastic to see everyone putting in a lot of hard work."
Cr Brticevic said he was proud to see so many locals lining the streets despite Saturday's hot weather.
He said the addition of the first ever Nerd Con event - a Comic Con-like extravaganza held at Campbelltown Council - was a great way to engage even more people in the annual festival.
"It was really good to see a lot of young people involved this year, especially kids of all abilities," Cr Brticevic said.
"Just having the superhero costumes on made a big difference, gave them a little more bravery.
"I saw some kids who were hiding behind their parents legs, but as soon as they put their superhero mask on, they were up and about.
"I'm pleased we have someone like councillor Ben Gilholme - who's a young one compared to me - to come up with great ideas like Nerd Con and engage with different parts of our community."
Cr Brticevic said he was also thrilled a visiting delegation from Koshigaya in Japan - Campbelltown's sister city - enjoyed the annual parade.
He encouraged locals to head along to the Fisher's Ghost carnival in Bradbury while the festival continued until this Sunday.
"I had a great time going to the carnival this weekend and I thought the 9pm fireworks were just spectacular," Cr Brticevic said.
"It was like New Year's Eve or Australia Day. Get on down and enjoy."
