"It gives you a real buzz when you hear the crowd sing our songs."
That's the view of Dragon vocalist and bass player Todd Hunter as the legendary rockers head back out on tour in 2019.
Dragon's "Best of in Concert" tour will include a show at the Bargo Sports Club on Saturday, August 17.
Hunter was part of Dragon when the band formed in New Zealand in 1972. They later relocated to Sydney.
The band's biggest hits over the years include Rain, April Sun in Cuba and Are You Old Enough?
After nearly five decades, Hunter said he still got a thrill from performing with Dragon.
"It's the great thing to play in a band and to keep playing together," he said.
"It's an incredible feeling [on stage] when you are all singing together. It doesn't feel like a band performing to the crowd."
Dragon has had numerous personnel changes over the years.
However, Hunter said the current band had played together for over a decade.
"We've been together since 2008 and we've played 1000 shows in that time," he said.
Hunter said the Bargo show would be divided into two sets.
"The first half will be a mix of old and new songs," he said.
"The second half will be all about the hits."
When asked about his favourite Dragon song, Hunter said he had a clear standout.
"Rain is my favourite - people still go nuts for it," he said.
Dragon will perform at the Bargo Sports Club on August 17 at 6pm. Tickets are $40 per person.
Hunter invited everyone to attend the show.
"You can expect a lot of songs. Enjoy it and come have a good time with your fellow human beings," he said.
