"All eyes in the harness racing world will be on Club Menangle in 2020."
That's the view of the club's chief executive Bruce Christison after yesterday's announcement that Menangle will feature in a prestigious new harness racing series next year.
Harness Racing NSW (HRNSW) will launch the inaugural $1 Million Pace in 2020 and will feature two meetings at Club Menangle.
The $1 Million Pace will kick off on May 3 in Broken Hill and the month-long series will consist of 25 races.
A round of quarter finals will be held at Club Menangle on May 23. The club will also host the $1 Million Pace final on May 31, 2020.
Mr Christison said it was a great honour for his club to be part of the $1 Million Pace series.
"This is an exciting new series," he said.
"As the premier harness racing track in Australia, it is fitting the final will be held at Club Menangle."
However, the $1 Million Pace won't be the only exciting event in Macarthur next year.
Club Menangle will host the popular Miracle Mile Festival. It is Australia's richest harness racing event, with an on-track winning prize of $1 million.
The Inter Dominion competition will also return to Macarthur in 2020. The series' prize money is worth more than $1 million, including a $500,000 final.
"Our prize money in the 2020 financial year will top $17.5 million," Mr Christison said.
"This is far greater than any other harness racing club in Australia."
Mr Christison said harness racing continued to grow in popularity in Macarthur, particularly since the action returned to Menangle Park in 2010.
"We have seen the Macarthur region fall in love with our new home and our horses," he said.
"The popularity has steadily grown through a combination of a great racing, a new purpose built facility, great food and a variety of entertainment.
"We get such great feedback from a wide variety of patrons."
