Bavarian Wollongong sets opening date, looking for staff

It's not long until the German-themed brewhouse The Bavarian will throw open its doors in Wollongong, with 500 free hotdogs to celebrate.

The first people few the doors from 11am on May 30 will score a free sausage.

The family eatery will open on the corner of Crown and Keira Streets, in the now defunct Max Brenner site. It will have a trading capacity of 330 guests including 100 seats alfresco.

Like the other Euro-eateries, the menu will include pork knuckle, crackling pork belly, a range of classic German and gourmet sausages, shared platters, an assortment of schnitzels, chicken wings, salads, plus 20 beers on tap.

Owned by the successful Rockpool Dining Group, they're currently taking applications for full-time and causal positions.

"We're targeting new recruits who live locally, know the area, the community," CEO Thomas Pash said. "The Bavarian has a strong culture of promoting employees who perform well and display leadership qualities, so there are excellent career development opportunities for the right candidates."
