Do you want to see the spectacular sight of thousands of flying foxes flapping in the sky?

Campbelltown Council will hold A Night with the Bats at Milton Park, Macquarie Fields this Saturday, April 13 from 4.30pm.

The event will help council collect data on local flying fox colonies.

Campbelltown mayor George Brticevic invited all interested people to come along on Saturday.

"This is a chance to connect with nature and learn about conservation work at the reserve and to mix with other families in a relaxed social setting," he said.

Milton Park is home to the resident Grey Headed Flying Fox, which are occasionally joined by the Little Red Flying Fox.

A guided walk to observe the colony roost will be followed by a group head count of the bats as they head off in the early evening to find food.

Council will host the event in partnership with the Redfern Creek Bushcare Group, Australasian Bat Society, Help Save the Wildlife and Bushlands of Campbelltown, WIRES and Sydney Wildlife.

Bookings are essential.
