Woodchipping machines spark fire in Oran Park

Macarthur firefighters have contained a blaze sparked by two woodchipping machines in Oran Park last night.

Multiple firefighting crews were called to the blaze at a property on The Northern Road about 7pm on Tuesday, March 12.

The fire generated thick smoke, meaning firefighters were forced to use breathing apparatus.

Forty firefighters from NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) worked together to contain the fire within an hour.

Firies were supported by an RFS water tanker.

No-one was injured in the fire. But two large industrial mulching machines were destroyed.

RFS crews from Luddenham, Narellan, Camden West, Catherine Field and Middleton were assisted by the Camden FRNSW.

RFS crews remained on scene for a short time afterwards to ensure the fire did not reignite.
