RETURNING HOME: Renowned cellist and former local Jonathan Békés will head back to Macarthur for a one-off concert this Saturday night.

One of Australia's leading cellists is heading to Macarthur this weekend to perform a special concert.

Jonathan Békés, who grew up in Campbelltown, will return to the region to perform his Fantasy Pieces concert on Saturday night.

Békés will perform at his old school, Macarthur Anglican School, where he completed his Higher School Certificate in 2010.

He continued his studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and is now a member of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

Macarthur Anglican School's head of music performance, Inés Marrable said the school was delighted to host Békés.

“It has been inspiring to see him continue his passion for playing the cello well beyond school," she said.

“Jonathan has given so much back to our school.

"Last year he mentored one of our HSC students and performed at our speech and awards night.

“He provides advice to our students and is a role model for those who want to pursue a career in music”.

Békés will perform alongside renowned pianist Ying Ho at Macarthur Anglican School this Saturday, March 16 at 7pm as part of his Fantasy Pieces national tour.
