Secret Garden festival is set to go out with a bang

On Sunday morning tired revellers will leave Brownlow Hill's Secret Garden festival for the last time.

The popular music and art extravaganza has been a highlight of the festival calendar for more than a decade.

However after 11 years the Downes family farm will host Secret Garden's last hurrah this weekend.

Festival organisers posted to the event’s Facebook page to make the announcement last month.

“We have known for a long time that Secret Garden 2019 would be our last year,” the post said.

“We have always wanted to go out with a big bang and the stars have [aligned] for this year to be the perfect time to drop the mic and say, Secret Garden – 11 and out.

“[Eleven] years on and what we set out to do has far outreached our expectations of what we thought Secret Garden could ever be.

“We have raised nearly $500,000 for charities and most importantly we have been an essential escape and a release for thousands of old and new friends.

“We may reappear in some other form in the future. But as a wise person once said, always leave a party when you’re still having fun.”

The February 22 and 23 event has been sold out for many months.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘One Last Night in Paradise’.
