Know a local volunteer who deserves some recognition?

Macarthur MP Dr Michael Freelander is calling on residents to nominate special locals who have gone above and beyond to help out their community.

Dr Freelander is holding a Volunteer Awards Day next month to mark International Volunteer Day and thank the hard work of locals who make Macarthur the generous place it is.

“This is a unique opportunity to say thank you to the many selfless men and women who contribute so much to the community, making the Macarthur region such a fantastic place to live and work,” he said.

“I am immensely proud of the volunteer effort in Macarthur. There are many organisations that are vital to our Macarthur community which are run off the backs of our generous volunteers.

“I’ve seen firsthand the selflessness and kindness of these volunteers.

“I’ve worked alongside many volunteers during my time as a paediatrician and an MP.

“The services they provide for our community are invaluable and deserve to be recognised.”

Worthy volunteers will receive a special certificate of appreciation from Dr Freelander.

More than six million Australians volunteer each year with charities and other non-profit organisations.

Dr Freelander’s Volunteer Awards ceremony will be hold on Thursday, November 22.
