The weekend’s heavy rainfall was a blessing for our farmers but it caused havoc for the Campbelltown-Camden District Cricket Club.
All grades except fourth grade were washed out at the weekend, resulting in several draws and a loss.
Club secretary Jason Ellsmore said the inclement weather turned the matches into a “bit of a non-event”.
“The umpires were checking the ground every hour or so, but in the end the games were called off,” he said.
“This was on both Saturday and Sunday, the men and the women.”
Ellsmore said there was a silver lining, however, with the grounds at Raby looking beautifully lush.
“It’s very nice and green out here at the moment,” he said.
“We’ve had the mowers out and it’s looking great.
“Everyone should come down this weekend to watch the men’s teams take on Northern Districts on Saturday, and the women’s side take on Parramatta.”
