Annual wheelchair push a great success once again: photos

It might have a new name by the event remained the same.

Fred’s Push Powered by Paul Nunnari – formerly known as the Paul Nunnari Wheelchair Push – was held on Friday as the traditional pre-cursor to the 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur walkathon.

The event was renamed to honour the charity’s founder Fred Borg, who died in late 2016.

Paralympian Paul Nunnari takes to the streets in his wheelchair each year, pushing from school to school, to inspire children and teachers to join a team in the annual fundraising event, which supports Macarthur cancer patients and their families.

This year Mr Nunnari visited Beverly Park School, St Patrick’s College, Airds High School, Ruse Public School, Leumeah High School, Campbellfield Public School and Sarah Redfern High School.

Local officers provided a police escort for the day-long event.

Students provided guards of honour to welcome Mr Nunnari as he visited each school.

This year’s 24 Hour Fight walkathon will be held on October 20 and 21 at Campbelltown Athletics Stadium, Leumeah.
