Comedians Mandy Nolan and Ellen Briggs have set an ambitious goal – they promise to make you laugh every 15 seconds.
Macarthur residents will have the chance to judge for themselves when Nolan and Briggs bring their Women Like Us show to Bargo Sports Club on October 5.
The two-hour show sees the two comedians spend an hour on stage each and Nolan promises to make people laugh.
“After our shows, people say they couldn’t believe how much they laughed and they didn’t think we could keep the pace going,” she said.
“Our mission is to provide a laugh every 15 seconds.”
Nolan said the pair brought different strengths to the stage but they gelled well together for Women Like Us.
“Ellen goes on stage first and is laidback and a good storyteller,” she said.
“I go next and I’m a little over the top – I’m six foot tall and I’m big.
“I have five children and Ellen has two kids so the humour we do is every day life. We talk about ageing, parents, ageing parents and just about putting your pants on.
“We provide raging, no holds-barred comedy.”
Nolan and Briggs will have performed more than 90 shows as a duo by the time Women Like Us rolls into Bargo next month.
Nolan said it was unique for two female stand-up comedians to headline a show together.
“It’s rare that you get two women booked together and if you do, it’s promoted as a women’s only show,” she said.
“But men are more than welcome to come along too. We often have come up and say they were dragged to the show but then thought it was awesome.
"We’re about changing people's perspectives of what to expect in a comedy show."
I know nothing about Bargo, other than it rhymes with cargo. But I like anything that has the word 'bar' in it.Comedian Mandy Nolan
Nolan admitted that she didn’t know a lot about Bargo but said Briggs had family in the Camden area.
"The great thing about this show is we get out to places we might not be able to visit otherwise," she said.
“We have performed at regional halls that are way off the beaten track and they are honestly the best shows.
