More than 5000 people are set to head to Club Menangle for a special harness racing event this Saturday, September 8.
Club Menangle will host a Race Against Drought meeting from 5.30pm to generate funds for drought-stricken farmers.
The club’s business development manager Ken White said Race Against Drought would kick-start a month of fundraising at Club Menangle.
“We have nine meetings programmed during September and we’re hoping to raise more than $100,000 over the month,” he said.
“During every race in September, horse number six will sport a lime green colour in support of Race Against Drought.
“Every time horse number six wins this month, TAB and Club Menangle will donate $500 each.”
Mr White said there was nine harness races to be held at Saturday’s meeting and there would be plenty to keep punters entertained.
“We will also have Camden’s Peter McWhirter and Picton’s Annika Jay providing live country music,” Mr White said.
“Our Aussie Night Markets are also on Saturday night and they normally attract about 3000 people.
“I’m expecting to see more than 5000 people at Club Menangle so it will be a massive night.”
A Race Against Drought function will be held in the club’s chairman’s lounge area. Tickets are $130 per person or $1200 for a table of 10.
