The East Campbelltown Eagles have soared to win the 2018 Sydney Shield minor premiership.

The local team’s stellar form throughout the year allowed them to secure the minor premiership with one round remaining in the season proper.

The club’s match against Guildford at the weekend ended in a draw, giving them the three points they needed to fly to the top of the competition ladder.

Despite winning the Sydney Shield competition in 2014 and 2016, this is the first time the club has managed to secure a minor premiership.

They were last named minor premiers in 2012 as part of the Group 6 competition.

“The club would like to thank and congratulate coach Richard Barnes and the coaching staff on another successful season,” president Daniel Draper said. “It’s been an amazing year for the club, with a club record of just over 430 registered players.”

The Eagles have a bye next week ahead of the first semi-final.
