A little bit of positivity never goes astray.

That’s what first-time author Sally-Anne Hurley believes.

The Leumeah resident has just launched her self-help book, How to Love the Sh*t Out of Life.

The book, aimed at young adults, was crafted as Ms Hurley thought there was more than enough negative, challenging things going on in the world.

“There are a lot of difficult things out there that can affect people in devastating ways,” Ms Hurley said.

“I like to think I have this gift of optimism and it’s my duty to share it with the world.”

Ms Hurley said she had always been a positive, upbeat person who chose to look on the bright side of life.

As a freelance journalist and passionate writer, the former James Meehan High School student set about putting together a book that would help people find the silver lining of life.

“I probably began writing this book in about 2014 and just kept going from there,” Ms Hurley said.

“Once I had a complete manuscript and I’d gotten some really great reactions from friends who had read the book, I took it around to some publishers and was lucky enough to find Brolga Publishing.”

The 29-year-old said she was “pretty blessed to be surrounded by a lot of good people” and she took a lot of life lessons from their presence.

“It might sound strange, but I’m a big fan of learning, learning from each other and seeing different perspectives, which I think makes a big difference in life,” she said.

“When you can see from someone else’s perspective you can get along a lot better.

“You don’t stop learning just because you’ve finished school or university – you keep learning from everyone around you.”

Ms Hurley has infused her book with all her best strategies for making the most of life and enjoying every day.

She hopes her readers will take a lot away from the tome.

“This is really for people who feel like they’re in a bit of a lull or they’re a little bit lost,” she said.

“I hope to make them feel warm and fuzzy and feel good about themselves.

“It’s a bit of light-hearted fun with a lot of good vibes.”
