The weather might be cooling down but the fun is just about to start heating up in Campbelltown.
Campbelltown Council has partnered with Joylands Amusements and Stars On Ice to bring a fantastic icy fun park to life at Koshigaya Park this winter.
The frosty attraction, Winterland, will run from July 6 to July 22.
Campbelltown mayor George Brticevic said the event would be great fun for the kids during the school holidays.
“It’ll be a real treat to have an ice skating rink right here in Campbelltown,” he said.
“But there will be so much more on offer, giving locals and visitors to our city an opportunity to get a taste of the winter experience that people who live in the northern hemisphere enjoy every year.
“I encourage everyone to come along to Winterland and enjoy the rides and entertainment, make the most of the ‘learn to skate’ classes or simply have fun on the ice – all at one of Campbelltown’s most beautiful parks.”
Locals who plan on attending the event on a Tuesday can take advantage of ‘Mates Rates’.
Between 10am and 5pm each Tuesday attendees who purchase one ticket will get a friend in for free.
The huge ice rink will cater for 100 skaters at any time.
Don’t worry too much about poor weather though because the rink is unaffected by light rain, however if there is heavy rain, thunderstorms or high winds, the rink and some of the attractions may be closed for a period of time, until it is safe to reopen.
A lighting show will also be projected onto the ice.
Other rides and attractions include the Ice Slide, Winterland Coaster, Fantasy Flyer, Sizzler, Dodgem Cars, Body Rock, Bungy Trampoline, Cup and Saucer and a carousel.
There will also be a range of winter-themed games, a food village and free workshops held daily from 11am to 4pm.
The grand opening event and light show will be held on Friday, July 6 from 7pm to 10pm.
The event will be open on Saturdays from 9am to 10pm, on Sundays from 10am to 10pm and on Monday to Friday from 10am to 10pm.
