Victoria will ration its flu vaccine to children, elderly and sick people until the Commonwealth can deliver a stable supply for all people eager to get the jab, the state government says.
Health Minister Jill Hennessy told reporters on Wednesday she's very concerned about the availability of the flu vaccine - given there is a shortage - and until the supply is stabilised it's just for "the vulnerable".
"Until we can get the assurance from the commonwealth government there's flu vaccine available for all, to make sure that we're rationing our flu vaccines for the most vulnerable groups - they are largely people with certain kinds of illnesses, for the elderly and for young children," Ms Hennessy said, with another order expected within weeks.
