Broughton Pass will be closed on the weekend for final repairs to be completed.
On Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20 the road will be closed temporarily from 6am to 6pm.
Additional stabilisation work will improve the longevity of the bridge approach on the Appin side of Broughton Pass.
Wollondilly mayor Judith Hannan said this closure would be the final part of the repair work.
“We understand this may cause disruption or delay to the travel plans of our drivers, but we need to close the road while the works are in progress for the safety of our road users and workers,” she said.
Due to site restrictions, the best way to complete the stabilisation works is to close Wilton Road, at Broughton Pass, for at least one 12-hour shift on Saturday starting at 6am.
If additional time is needed to complete the works, the road will close again on Sunday from 6am to 6pm.
General manager Luke Johnson said Wollondilly Council would keep residents updated.
“We will maintain regular communication with those that use the road by posting updates on the council’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as on the variable message boards that you see on the road.”
Those who plan to use Broughton Pass on the weekend are asked to follow Wollondilly Shire Council or LiveTraffic NSW on Facebook or Twitter, or visit the alerts section of the council’s website for updates on road closures.
