Learner driver goes for a joyride

A LEARNER driver was busted by police in Picton after allegedly taking a friend’s car for a joyride without their permission. The 16-year-old was unaccompanied by a licenced driver and also failed to display his L plates. When police neared the vehicle the youth allegedly tried to avoid them, turning into nearby streets and completing u-turns. The driver, and his 16-year-old passenger, will both be dealt with under the young offenders act.


TWO men used a fake $100 bill to pay for items purchased at a service station off the Hume Highway at Pheasants Nest on Thursday afternoon. The attendant did not notice the note was counterfeit until the men had left the store. The older man, who paid, is described as 40-50 years old with brown hair and was wearing dark shorts and a fluoro shirt.


A 49-YEAR-OLD woman who was involved in the crash which killed Wilton resident Julie Bullock and her son Hudson, and seriously injured daughter Sienna Bullock, on the Hume Motorway at Pheasants Nest in March has been charged over the incident. The woman will face Picton Local Court on two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning death.


TWO unlocked vehicles were raided by thieves in Mount Annan last week and cash, sunglasses, a wallet, a handbag and a pram were stolen. The cars were parked on Todd Place and Kurrajong Curcuit. The thieves stole a small amount cash from the side door pocket of the first car, a ute, and the other larger items from the second vehicle.


CAMDEN Police are looking to speak to a man, 20-25 years old with red hair and a beard, who allegedly punched a drunk man to the side of the face outside an Argyle Street Hotel on Sunday. The 22-year-old drunk man was allegedly bothering other people on the street and was spoken to be hotel security. As they were speaking the unknown man struck the 22-year-old, causing him to fall onto the footpath. Officers are also seeking witnesses to the incident. 


THREE men, aged 36, 33 and 23, will face Picton court this month charged with stealing goods from a worksite in Oran Park. The men were spotted loading building materials into a white truck in Ewing Loop on Saturday afternoon and were stopped by police shortly after. The site manager confirmed they were not authorised to take the materials or be on site.


TWO vehicles were involved in a serious accident in Denham Court on Friday afternoon. Police are investigating the circumstances that caused the collision between the Toyota Hilux and Toyota Corolla on Campbelltown Road. The 55-year-old Corolla driver suffered serious leg, pelvis and head injuries. The 72-year-old Hilux was treated for rib injuries.


A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with the murder of Glenfield teenager Brayden Dillon. The 15-yearold was shot in the head while he was asleep in the family home on Good Friday. The charge came a day after police appealed to the public to help find a white car that was seen driving away from the scene. About 11pm on Monday, police arrested the 26-year-old at a property in Seven Hills. He was charged with one count of murder and refused bail.


THE state government has offered a $100,000 reward for information regarding the disappearance and murder of former Macquarie Fields High School student, Tracey Valesini. Ms Valesini was last seen at Campbelltown Courthouse 25 years ago – attending a custody hearing for her daughter, Crystal-Lee. NSW Police Minister Troy Grant said “no family should endure not knowing what happened to their loved one”. Details: Crime Stoppers (1800 333 000).


A 70-YEAR-OLD man was trapped in his car following a serious accident on Appin Road on Saturday. Police were called to the scene – two kilometres south of Copperfield Drive – about 1pm. The 70-year-old driver of the Suzkiki who was trapped suffered a suspected broken collarbone and was taken to Liverpool Hospital. A female passenger, also in her 70s, was also treated for injuries. The 60-year-old driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the crash.
