Jim Riley, Camden South, retired
Why are you running for council?
I would like to continue to represent residents in my community and be their voice on council. I would like to see residents get the best quality services possible and do not like it when I see ratepayers' money being wasted. In 2011 I voted against the re-introduction of ratepayer funded councillor trips as councillors should pay their own way and the money saved can be better spent on community facilities.
What do you hope to achieve as a councillor?
My main goal would be to get as much infrastructure for our area as possible. I would like to be a strong advocate for Camden Council and be able to effectively lobby the state and federal governments for major infrastructure for our area as we grow, including employment infrastructure so residents have more options to work closer to home. I would also like to improve council infrastructure such as local roads, footpaths, playground facilities, parks and sporting grounds.
I would like to continue positive companion animal initiatives such as Paws in the Park and the Adopt-a-Pet program.
