FOR your last minute Christmas food purchases there really is only one place to go.
The Camden Produce Markets will hold a special twilight market on Monday, December 23, as well as the regular Saturday market this weekend, and there will be plenty of seasonal produce available.
Top 40 Orchard owner Lynette Rideout-Keanelly said the twilight market would be the perfect opportunity for Macarthur residents to get their hands on the freshest produce available for Christmas.
"The best thing about supporting local producers is the produce lasts so long," she said. "You can buy a fortnight's worth of stuff and still be eating good fresh produce when the next one comes around."
Mrs Rideout-Keanelly said she hoped her Oakdale orchard would be producing some beautiful peaches and plums by the time the market came around.
She said the producers loved coming to the markets and catching up with each other and with their regular customers.
The produce available at the markets includes olives, fruit and vegetables, herbs, flowers, milk, cheeses, jams and chutneys as well as meats and breads and more.
"People come down and have their breakfast and do their shopping," she said. "It is always a great atmosphere down there."
Camden councillor and loyal produce market customer Penny Fischer said the produce was always locally sourced. "It's really important to support our local farmers, and at the town farm markets you are guaranteed of that," she said.
The Camden Produce Markets run the second and fourth Saturday of each month at the Camden Town Farm from 7am to noon.
The twilight market will run on December 23 from 4pm to 8pm.
