With a six-tent luxury glamping precinct set unobtrusively among the native landscape, customers can experience high-end camping with all the trimmings under the Northern Territory skies. A further 128 resort rooms offer a cool sanctuary in the desert, with the deluxe offerings including spa, private balcony and the best scenic views.

For backpackers and value travellers, lodge-style accommodation is available with either shared or private rooms and shared amenities. Of course, the resort also provides for caravanners and campers enjoying the wonders of the Red Centre and Top End.

Kings Canyon Resort has a large F&B component with several restaurants and bar. Catering to a diverse range of tastes from higher-end dining to bistro style favourites and BBQ, the emphasis on fresh, local ingredients and an Aussie take on hearty favourites.

The Roles

As the season gears up and all of our outlets open we are seeking chefs for various positions: Apprentice Chefs, Commis, CDP & Sous at Kings Canyon for the busy 2022 season.

You will be responsible for providing efficient and cost-effective food service, with smooth day-to-day operation in one of our three commercial kitchens. You will be included on a rotating roster across breakfast, lunch & dinner, with consistent superior guest focus at the forefront of all activities. You will be joining a supportive and tight knit team producing unforgettable dining experiences for our guests.

In your role will ensure:

  • the kitchen complies with sanitation requirements and safety standards
  • control and direction of food preparation
  • foster a climate of cooperation and respect within the team
  • maintain consistent guest-focus at the forefront of all activities
  • cook dishes that delight guests with their taste and timely delivery
  • liaise with front of house staff to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of daily service

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience and cooking in a similar environment 
  • Formal trade qualifications in commercial cooking or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to work within a team and autonomously
  • Ability to prep and organise ahead 
  • Current First Aid Certificate is highly desirable
  • HACCP experience essential, with a high emphasis on food hygiene     
  • Current Drivers License.

You will have either a Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) preferably, and must have a least 3 years experience in commercial kitchens post-qualification.
