Disposing of chemical waste can be difficult and dangerous.
Camden Council will make this easier for residents on Saturday, January 28 at the annual Chemical CleanOut.
Previously held at Onslow Park in Camden, hazardous chemicals can now be disposed of at Camden Council’s Works Depot located at 5 Millwood Avenue, Narellan, just off Grahams Hill Road.
The Chemical CleanOut is a joint initiative between Camden Council and the NSW Environmental Protection Authority.
Camden mayor Lara Symkowiak said the event allowed residents to do something good for the environment while freeing up some room in their homes.
“This event has moved to a new location to help manage the growing number of attendees,” she said.
“All chemicals collected on the day are disposed of in a safe and environmentally friendly manner so don’t forget to pencil in the event.”
Items that will be accepted on the day include:-
- Solvents and household cleaners
- Floor care products
- Ammonia-based cleaners
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Pool chemicals
- Hobby chemicals
- Motor fuels
- Fluorescent globes and tubes
- Acids and alkalis
- Smoke detectors
- Paint and paint-related products
- Gas bottles
- Fire extinguishers
- Car and household batteries
- Motor oils and cooking oils
The event will commence at 9am and finish at 3.30pm.
