A man remains in a stable condition following a serious accident on the Hume Highway on Wednesday.

The highway was partially closed for several hours on September 13 due to a two-vehicle accident.

The accident involving a truck and ute occurred north of Menangle Road at about 12.30pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene to free a man who was trapped in the ute for several hours.

The man was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital.

On Thursday, a South Western Sydney Local Health District spokeswoman said the patient remained in a stable condition.
