Australian rugby union – at a professional level – might be struggling, but the next generation in Campbelltown certainly isn’t.
The Campbelltown Harlequins Junior Rugby Union Football Club have enjoyed a stellar season in a host of grades this year.
Harlequins sides across the board have been dominant in the Illawarra competition this year with the under 7s, under 10s (greens), under 11s, under 12s and under 13s all sitting on top of the ladder, while the under 8s are in second spot.
The under 10s (greens), 11s, 12s and 13s also remain undefeated as the end of the regular season comes to a close.
While the under 7s and 8s divisions don’t play finals, the other age groups are well positioned to go deep into the finals.
Several players were also recognised recently at the Illawarra competition’s annual awards, with a Harlequins player taking out the best and fairest in the 11s, 12s and 13s age divisions.
The final round of the regular season will be played this week.
