The idea of needing to pack years worth of belongings into small boxes and placing them meticulously into a vehicle without breaking anything is a task, perhaps better left to professionals.
Oneflare, the online trades and services marketplace, has helped Australians move their homes over 60,000 times since 2010 by connecting them with removalists.
Data from Oneflare, indicated that last year, 67 per cent of Australians seeking the services of a removalist were moving out from homes and those moving into homes increased to 71 per cent.
Pete Wilson from Fair And Square Removals & Storage said that he has noticed more people making the move long distances, such as from Sydney to the Central Coast.
“A lot of young families seem to be moving to the Central Coast where there is more space and where they are more likely to have better bang for their buck,” Mr Wilson said.
Whilst there are several benefits to hiring a removalist, Mr Wilson believes that removalists make it easier for moving long distance and so families can focus on the bigger elements such as finding another school and becoming familiar with the area.
For those who are planning to move homes in the future, here are the removalist’s top tips:
- Be prepared: Pack as much as possible before the removalists arrive as the better prepared you are, the quicker and easier the process can be, the more money you could save too.
- Dump or donate your unwanted items: There’s no need to pay for moving items that you don’t want or won’t use.
- Property access: Ensure that there is space to allow for parking as close to the property as possible to further reduce time and effort needed to move.
- Remove distractions: Where possible, make arrangements for children or family pets to not be around as moving some items could become hazardous.
COO of Oneflare, Ken Tabuki said that removalist services are one of the most popular categories on the website.
