At least a 100 fire fighters from Fire and Rescue NSW and Rural Fire Service units have contained a fire that engulfed a tyre store in Bowral.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Reekie's Tyres and More on Station Street, where the blaze had blown through the roof and multiple explosions could be heard.
The fire spread to nearby Bowral Veterinary Hospital which had been evacuated. It has since been contained.
Dr Angus Hayes from the clinic said a total of five dogs and the on-duty vet were evacuated with no injuries to report.
"We've had a busy afternoon trying to find places for the patients to stay because we are unable to access the building," Dr Hayes said. "We don't have power in the building and police and emergency services are still there."
Thick black smoke could be seen in neighbouring suburbs. Both stores were closed for business when the fire started.
Crews were able to contain the fire by 3pm. Fire fighters are still working to extinguish the blaze which is expected to burn for several hours before an investigation can commence.
