As locals we know just how great Camden is, but now the town has been recognised as one of Australia’s best.
Travel agency Discount My Flights Australia chose Camden in its annual list of the top 50 small towns across the country.
Marketing manager Matthew Greenspan said towns were chosen based on a number of attributes.
“The list has been carefully constructed to include the country’s most charming destinations,” he said.
“It encourages travellers to venture off the beaten path and experience the shops, eateries, pubs, historic sites and scenery that make these corners of the Land Down Under so special.”
Camden was chosen alongside Narromine and Tenterfield, NSW, Mandurah, WA, Mildura and Shepparton ,VIC, Beauty Point, TAS, Maryborough and Hervey Bay, QLD and Katherine, NT.
Councillor and Camden business owner Eva Campbell said the town was Sydney’s best kept secret.
“I am delighted but not at all surprised that Camden made the list,” she said.
“Based on the categories they used to choose, we have them all and then some.”
Ms Campbell said most of the town’s attractions were within walking distance of one another.
“I like to call it the horse shoe of good fortune,” she said.
“You can start at the bike and walking track, walk past farms, boutique shops, eateries, the bowling club and the jewel in the crown – Macarthur Park.”
