The Macarthur under 13s boys softball team are not only the state champions, they are also undefeated.

Team coach Tim Darby said the boys won all six games in the tournament held at Milperra on Saturday and Sunday, September 10 and 11.

The team scored 117 runs in six games and only had 20 runs scored against them.

“I am very proud and pleased with the team,” Mr Darby said.

“The boys celebrated a lot after the win and the younger guys particularly enjoyed the success.

“I have coached some of the boys for three or four years from their T-Ball days.”

Half the team are back-to-back state champions after they played in the under 13s team last year.

Mr Darby said this win was made extra special after many players in the team had missed out on winning the T-Ball state championships last year.

The representative team is made up of players from five clubs within the Macarthur Softball Association.

The boys had 20 training sessions before the championships to prepare for the competition.

“The boys have made great friendships over the years and they have been a successful team,” Mr Darby said.

The team will now have to wait until January to play in their next tournament on Australia Day in Canberra.

The under 15s team will also compete in the state championships in November.

Two of the under 13s boys were also selected in the NSW primary schools team and will compete in the national championships.
