A boy has suffered a fractured arm after he was attacked by a dog in the NSW Hunter region.
Police say the boy, 8, was walking in a paddock at Edgeworth, near Newcastle, on Sunday afternoon.
The boy approached the back fence of a home on Lyons Close when a dog reached through the opposite side of the fence and attacked him.
An initial report suggested the boy may have tried to scale the fence when the dog, a registered Doberman, bit him.
The boy was taken to John Hunter Hospital with a suspected fractured arm and bite marks.
Police say the owner of the dog has been spoken to and the local council is involved in the investigation.
