The teenage wife of Sydney terror suspect Sameh Bayda has been refused bail after she was charged with 31 counts of failure to answer questions.
Alo-Bridget Nomoa from Auburn in Sydney's west was arrested after her husband Sameh Bayda was charged with three counts of collecting documents likely to facilitate terrorist acts in January.
Namoa allegedly failed to answer questions in a crime commission hearing. She was asked about her husband's alleged plans to sacrifice himself, ISIS propaganda, a knife allegedly found in her handbag wrapped in a Shahada flag and plans of a terrorist act.
The 18-year-old married Bayda on December 31 and converted from Catholicism to the Islamic faith.
Namoa appeared at Parramatta Bail Court via audio visual link where she applied to be released on conditional bail, which was opposed by senior police prosecutor Clint Nasr.
Sergeant Nasr said her charges were serious, because of her "extreme" conduct which included allegedly storing graphic photos on her phone of executions, beheadings and ISIS propaganda.
"There is concern she is a supporter of ISIS," he said.
"She converted from Christianity to Islam and married a person of Islamic faith – that is an extreme activity.
"The accused is up to her eye balls with what her husband was in."
However, Magistrate George Zdenkowski did not accept that converting to Islam and marrying someone of the Islamic faith was extreme.
In her argument for bail, Lynch said Namoa would commit to living with her Catholic mother in Auburn, would not contact anyone of the Muslim faith, would not visit any mosques and would report to the police.
However, in his ruling, Mr Zdenkowski said the case against Namoa was compelling and the potential threat to the public of a terrorist attack was extreme.
He said Namoa was given multiple opportunities to answer questions in the hearing and was warned of the consequences if she failed to answer.
"It's an unusual situation, a young woman, with no prior record would normally be released on conditional bail," Mr Zdenkowski said.
However, as a result of the alleged danger to the public and the alleged references to acts of violence, bail was refused.
Namoa will re-appear at the Downing Centre on Thursday, February 11.
