Disappear into the fantasy world of medieval Idrinor at Western Sydney Megagame Society’s new megagame event at Narellan Library.
Only the society’s second event, participants will take on the roles of medieval kingdoms and battle it out in a six-hour long game of politics, role-playing, strategy and political simulation.
Society founder and game organiser Patrick Doyle said megagaming was a combination of many different hobbies and interests.
‘‘The players split up into different teams with conflicting goals and there is a lot of problem solving and teamwork,’’ he said.
Mr Doyle said some players were attracted to the political simulation, others liked the board game aspect of the game and other liked the role-playing involved and even dressed up to suit their characters.
He said all players were given a lot of information before the event about the situation and their characters and they were given a briefing before the event begins.
‘‘It is very fast-paced and it get’s quite hectic,’’ he said.
‘‘It can be very rushed and stressful and people who went to the first one said it was quite an accurate simulation of global politics.’’
The first event called for players to take on the role of different countries forced to deal with each other politically as well as an alien species which came to visit Earth.
Tickets cost $10 which covers catering and other costs associated with staging the event.
