CAMDEN Rugby Club's Wire Lane ground is being likened to a fortress which has yet to be breached by visiting teams this season.
The Rams' first grade team destroyed Wollondilly 60-0 as the White Waratahs wilted under an impressive, all-round performance from Camden, in front of a vocal home crowd.
Camden lead the first grade ladder with 130 points scored, with their opponents yet to register any points against them, in the opening two rounds of the Rams' Illawarra District Rugby Union competition.
Camden coaches Alastair Le Good and Andrew Suffell were surprised the Rams romped to such an easy victory.
``We thought it would be a tough game,'' Le Good said.
``It was really a team effort, everyone put up their hand and did their job.
``We're going really well and it's good to see us putting some points on the board.''
Camden were less than impressive in attack in the early stages of the game, leading by just a single try scored after 25 minutes.
But they found a winning formula by passing out wide and letting their fast backs do the damage between the posts.
``It was tight at the start but we knew we had the squad to win and we just had to stick at it,'' Le Good said.
``It took a while to get into our rhythm, but once we did, the points started coming.
``It's just the flow-on from the hard work we put in last year.''
Wollondilly coach Tony Daly has experienced many highs as a Wallaby, but Saturday was a day of bitter disappointment as his team flung up the white flag.
The game was effectively over at the break as the Waratahs were trailing 33-0.
Daly couldn't inspire them despite tough talk at half-time.
``We've got a good attitude at training and it just didn't make sense today,'' he said.
``We need to get some mental toughness in our game but I'm taking nothing away from Camden; it was a pretty, first-class effort from them across the board.''
Camden's second grade team has also kept opponents scoreless this season.
They beat Wollondilly 50-0 on Saturday.
